Shady Point Schools Transition to Virtual Learning on April 8th Due to Total Solar Eclipse

Shady Point, Oklahoma, April 2, 2024 - Shady Point Schools announced today that they will be transitioning to virtual learning on April 8th, 2024, due to the anticipated total solar eclipse expected to occur a few minutes before 2:00 pm. This decision comes in light of potential disruptions, including an influx of people, which may pose challenges for conducting regular school activities.

While the effects of the solar eclipse are expected to be confined to April 8th, the school has implemented contingency plans should there be a need to extend the closure to April 9th. A final decision regarding April 9th will be made later on the day of the eclipse, ensuring timely communication with parents and stakeholders.

To enhance students' engagement with this celestial event, Shady Point Schools will be providing information packets and eclipse glasses for students to safely observe the eclipse from the comfort of their homes. Parents are encouraged to actively participate in this educational opportunity and support their children in making the most out of this unique learning experience.

The school administration is committed to keeping parents informed about any further developments regarding the school day for April 9th. Updates will be communicated in advance, allowing parents and students to plan accordingly.
